Hace más de seis años salía la versión 4 de Avast, un antivirus gratuito que revolucionó por completo el mercado por su alta calidad y precio nulo. Ahora, Avast vuelve con la beta de la versión 5, una revolución largo tiempo esperada.
Los cambios saltan a la vista nada más iniciar la instalación. Avast 5 abandona la paleta de colores claros de la serie 4 para vestirse de tonos oscuros, con toques blancos y anaranjados. La diferencia con la vieja interfaz es considerable. El viejo panel metálico deja sitio a una ventana más similar a la de los antivirus más conocidos.
Además de un lavado de cara, Avast 5 ha cambiado su motor añadiendo funciones muy interesantes. No sólo se mantienen los módulos de protección P2P, web y de mensajería, sino que se añade uno nuevo, el Behavior Shield (o escudo conductual), que controla comportamientos sospechosos por parte de cualquier programa.
Las estadísticas de análisis son muy detalladas y fáciles de consultar, y las opciones permiten modificar cualquier parámetro de Avast. Puedes activar efectos gráficos especiales, activar el modo silencioso (para evitar que las notificaciones te molesten) e incluso retrasar la carga del servicio de Avast en memoria.
Con todo, la beta de Avast 5 aún tiene muchas cosas por pulir. El escudo conductual está incompleto y la protección anti-rootkit no funciona. Los sonidos y la integración con el Explorador son otros temas pendientes. Pero si quieres probar el Avast del futuro, ésta es tu oportunidad.
